Nikanor is also used in the country of Georgia, where it is written as ნიკანორ. As far as I can tell, the name appears to be rare and its use started in honour of the Greek saint Nicanor the Deacon (died in 76 AD). A notable bearer of the name is the Georgian politician Nikanor "Nika" Melia (b. 1979).- http://kids.ge/baby-name?id=1234 (in Georgian; this is about the name)

It is written as Никанор in Russian Cyrillic and is rare now, but might have been a bit more common in older times. Nikanor "Nick" Chevotarevich was the name of Christopher Walken's character in one of my favorite films, The Deer Hunter (1978).
