Gender Feminine
Scripts ნუნუ(Georgian)

Meaning & History

Meaning uncertain. Georgian sources theorize that the name might be etymologically related to that of the Egyptian water god Nu and his female counterpart Naunet.

Also compare the Georgian noun ნუნუა (nunua) meaning "wine" and the names Nunna (Georgian) and Nunufar (Armenian).

In Georgian literature, Nunu is the name of one of the central characters of the novel The Patricide (1882) written by Aleksandre Qazbegi (1848-1893).
