You know what, especially having seen a couple of younger bearers of what might be considered an “old fashioned” name, I like it enough to picture having a daughter with it. It definitely has that likability factor for me.I wish I hadn’t seen the comment from 2005 about the name also being a word for a weak person, but I think I could get past that. Sometimes, you just have to (for example, one of my favourites is Charlotte despite knowing it has the word “harlot” in it, Lana is anal backwards but people still use it, etc). It’s probably also one of those things where most people either don’t know or don’t care.
Not my taste but it could be cute as a nickname or middle name I think.
I think it sounds cute!
My grandmother's name is Patsy and she is so nice and never mean. I like that name but I would only use it for a middle name because it’s a bit old fashioned for my taste.
I’m neutral about the name Patsy, but I prefer Patty. It sounds weird as a boy’s name, but fine as a girl’s name, my opinion.
This name is pretty childish and reminds me of a stuck up old lady who hates children and loves flowers.
I love this name, especially because of Patsy Cline.
I've always hated this nickname. It sounds especially bad on a boy.
Sounds overly girlish for a boy. Why not go by Pat or Paddy/Patty.
I think this name is sweet, pretty and really cute for a girl. :D Since Patsy is often used for girls, I can't imagine it suiting a guy though, lol. XD.
This is my grandma's name. She always disliked it and goes by just Pat. I think it's the meaning that bothered her and the sound is a bit childish. She wishes Pat was short for Petunia haha :)
This was a short-lived nickname my sister was calling me. There was a character from Sailor Moon named this. And yes, it does or would sound hilarious on a guy! But if he were a boyfriend it would be kind of a cute petname if he doesn't mind - most likely he will!
I personally like this name. The name makes people think of that person as a gullible scapegoat. But, there's a good side about this as well. The name suggests that Patsy isn't selfish. Also, this person believes totally in people (to the point of being easily used by them). It's kinda tragic too I guess, but I still like being called this.
It has little effect on me if used for a female, but this name is absolutely hilarious to me when used on a male! I didn't originally know there even were guys called Patsy. I was introduced to this usage of it through one of my friends, who wrote a story where a male character is named Patsy. The character in her story was funny, and since I also think of Patsy from Monty Python and the Holy Grail when I think of guys named Patsy, I think this is very funny as a boy's name.
Our son was born just over a month ago, we named him Patsy! I think its a strong name! Patsy means "NOBLE".
This name always seems really sickly sweet to me. No offense to anyone who likes it, of course.
