Meaning & History

'Psmith Rupert (in later incarnations Ronald Eustace) Psmith, dandyish Old Etonian (expelled) flaneur and social escapologist in the works of P.G. Wodehouse. Debuting in 'Lost Lambs' (1909; later (1935) renamed 'Enter Psmith'), he was the first of the major characters Wodehouse created. The P (silent) was his own addition.'
