Meaning & History

Variant form of Ralphina, of which the spelling and pronunciation was inspired or influenced by French feminine names.

A known bearer of this name was Ralphine North McDonald (1842-1918), the wife of the American colonel and businessman Mark Lindsey McDonald (1833-1917). Her husband had built a reservoir in California in the late 19th century, which he went on to name Lake Ralphine, in honour of her.
