Rif 2

Gender Masculine & Feminine
Pronounced Pron. RIF  [key]

Meaning & History

The meaning of this rare but predominantly masculine name is a bit uncertain.

It might possibly be derived from the Dutch noun rif meaning "reef", in which case it would be a nature name much like Storm and Vlinder. However, it could also be a variant spelling of Riff, which is more of a musical name.

Lastly, in the case of female bearers, the name can also be a short form of Rifka and its variant Rifke.
