Italian form of Romedius.

Saint Romedius (died c. 4th century) was the son on Tyrolese count. After his parents died, he gave away all his possessions and established himself in the Val di Non in Trentino, Italy, where the Sanctuary of San Romedio still exists. The saint is often depicted alongside a bear.
