Apart from Ruxandra a similar name, Ruxanda, is also used in Romania and the Republic of Moldova even though it's much less common.

Someone here mentioned that it's not a form of Roxana. I speak Romanian and did some research on Romanian websites and it seems to derive from either Alexandra or Roxana. About 50% of all websites I looked at said it derived from Alexandra and the other 50% listed Roxana. It would be interesting to know where it really comes from.

I just met a Ruxy (not Roxy) here in UK. She is Romanian... and delightful.

The "Rux" is very unattractive to me and throws off the entire name for me.

Ruxandra was the little daughter of Vasile Lupu, the principe of Moldavia Country (Roumania now).
