Meaning & History

Possibly derived from Old Persian Sandauka. In Greek mythology, Sandocus travelled from Syria to Cilicia (in modern-day Turkey) to found the city of Celenderis. He married Pharnace, the daughter of King Megassares of Hyria, and together they had a son, Cinyras.
