Serge Jonas Ibaka Ngobila (born 18 September 1989) is a Congolese-Spanish professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ibaka is a three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection and has twice led the league in blocks. In June 2019, he helped the Raptors defeat the Golden State Warriors in six games during the NBA Finals to win his first NBA championship.

Off the court, Ibaka is also the host of the YouTube cooking series "How Hungry Are You?" In each episode, the self-styled "Mafuzzy Chef" usually invites one of his teammates or another basketball player to a meal, interviews them, and then unveils the episode's special ingredient such as lamb brains or beef testicles.

An alternate spelling "Serj" is used by the lead singer of System of a Down, Serj Tankian. He's, well. He's a beast. Very awesome.

A famous bearer of the name Serge is Serge Gainsbourgh, a singer famous for his collaborations with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, as well as the risque subject matter of his songs. He is the father of Charlotte Gainsbourgh.

It bothers me that Americans often pronounce it like sir-gay, like the Russian Sergei. I've even heard this on the radio.

The French pronunciation is, SAIRZH, which I think is MUCH more elegant than the Americanized, SURGE.
