The name of the last king of Essex before being defeated and reduced to duke by his Mercian overlords, in response he ceded his former title to King Egbert of Wessex and possibly pledged vassalage to Egbert soon after. He reigned as King of Essex from 798 to 812 before said Mercian overlords reduced his title.
