Meaning & History

The name of a Divine (god) in the popular video game series 'The Elder Scrolls'.

Stendarr 'the Steadfast' is known as the god of mercy, charity, well-earned luck, and justice. He originated as a god of ransom but evolved into one of compassion and righteous rule by might and merciful forbearance, making him a favorite of magistrates and rulers and the patron god of the Imperial Legion. He is most popular amongst Imperials, Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves), and Bretons. He is also known as the patron god of the Vigilants of Stendarr, a cult devoted to 'justice' and cleansing the world of Daedra and other abominations (werewolves, vampires, witches, etc) in the name of the divine.
