If it weren’t for a very personal, awful family matter, I’d really love this name. In fact, I really do enjoy this name for a girl, as I’ve always done. However, the personal baggage with this name cannot compare, unfortunately. If you’re considering to use this name, I’d say give it a shot; it’s unique, classy, and gentle-sounding. It’s a huge shame that this situation prevents me from using it.
I prefer Sue Ellen over this spelling. Suellen looks like sullen but Sue Ellen is more likeable to me.
I guess I'm in the minority here because I really like this name. I think it's rather cute, either as a nickname or a legal one. *shrug* I don't imagine a "redneck" at all.
Looks and sounds wack.
It might not have a nice sound but it’s certainly better than the name Sue!
This name screams redneck.
Sounds like "swellin'". It's not very pretty.
Hmmm... Very interesting but oh my! It screams stereotypical so bad!I've never heard the name Suellen before, very uncommon indeed. But I personally don't like it myself- it's the stereotypical -type (names like Shaquan, Shaniqua, etc) Because most people will usually associate it with rednecks. As for the name, it's really the Sue part that does it all (the part I don't like). But do it! If you like it name your child that!
Hideous.
Too close to sullen.
Ugly, trailer park trash name.
It's cute, but it looks like it would be pronounced "Swell-en" or "Sue, len". Sue-Ellen is a bit better.
Southern sterotype of a name...
Every time I look at it I see the word "sullen."
By itself it is not good, but as a nickname to Susan Elinor (or any variation) it is okay.
This name sounds trashy. Plus Scarlett O'Hara's sister was pretty irritating, and that's the only association this name has.
This sounds like a redneck or trailer park name.
I think this is a very cute name! I would definitely use it!
