My name is Tesni and I find lots of people, English and welsh, pronounce it Te-z-ni and some people just give up entirely and just call me Tess. It's not a complex name. Why can't they pronounce it?

Tesni seems to be a very serious name. It does name an interesting quality, though, furthered by the meaning.

My name is Tesni. I was told as a child that the meaning in Welsh is "magical sunshine". It is, as I understand it, a poetic/Bardic word and therefore not used in everyday conversational Welsh (though unfortunately I am not a Welsh speaker so I have to take this on trust). In this context it can also mean "Indian summer", as in an unexpected spell of warm, settled weather late in the year. This meaning had a personal resonance for my parents and this is why I was given the name. I have further been told that whilst it is uncommon even in Wales, it is slightly more prevalent in West Wales.

Pronounced (TES-nee)

The meaning is great! I don't know about it being a first name, but I think it would make a great middle name, e.g. Eliora Tesni.
