Meaning & History

Variant spelling of Toya.

Though this name is rarely used in the United States, it received a slight boost in popularity in Britain (mostly in England) in 1981 and again in 1998, first as a result of the release of the album Anthem by English singer and actress Toyah Willcox (1958-) (often referred to by her first name) and then, most likely, as a result of the appearance of Toyah Battersby, played by Georgia Taylor, in the popular soap opera Coronation Street.
