This name is very eccentric, but I kind of like the sound. I would spell it Yulissa though.
I hate the Yuh sound of it. Just stick with Alyssa.
Love this name so much. Has an association with Ulysses Grant, the president, which in my mind is a good association.
In addition, Ulysses is the Roman form of Odysseus, so there is that connection as well. I think it's a very strong and meaningful name.
It sounds rather tacky and fake, plus the fact that it is derived from Ulysses makes this name pathetic.
Just out of curiosity, why would you consider it "pathetic" that Ulyssa was derived from Ulysses? I consider Ulysases S. Grant, the most famous Ulysses I know of, to have been a rather admirable man. I don't mind that connection to Ulyssa at all.
For the most part (other than perhaps Elissa), I think that a lot of -yssa and -issa names sound vapid--probably due to how common they are. However, I *really* like Ulyssa. It's different.
