Valeri Karpin is a Russian professional association football manager and a former player who played as midfielder. He was primarily a right midfielder.

The goal was used in the opening intro for the NHL 98 video game.
Famous gymnast Valeri Liukin bears this name. He is the father of Nastia Liukin and husband of Anna Liukin. He was the first gymnast to do a triple back on floor, competed in the 1988 Olympics and now coaches at the WOGA gym in Plano, Texas.
