Meaning & History

Possibly derived from Vanaheimr, home of the Vanir (a type of Old Norse gods). Vana was the wife of Sveigðir and mother of Vanlandi. She appears in the epic works 'Heimskringla' and 'Ynglinga saga' written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson.
