Meaning & History
Means "the powerful".She originally considered a local guardian deity of Thebes, whose cult rose to prominence during the 12th Dynasty and during which several pharaohs were given names in her honor (Senusret). In few depictions of her that exist she typically wears a tall crown with the Was sceptre, while carrying various weapons. She was eventually superseded by Mut and became an aspect of Hathor. She was Amun's first wife, or perhaps was renamed Mut at some point.
