Either a short from of EUGÈNIA or a Catalan form of Xenia. This was a pen name of the Catalan feminist writer Carme Karr (1865-1943). In her case, it was an allusion to the writer Eugeni d'Ors (1881-1954), who had used the pen name Xènius.
