Meaning & History

From Japanese 吉 (yoshi) meaning "good luck", 義 (yoshi) meaning "righteous", or 良 (yoshi) meaning "good, virtuous, respectable" combined with 也 (ya) meaning "also" or 哉 (ya), an exclamation. This name can be formed with other kanji combinations as well. Yoshiya Nishizawa (1987-) and Yoshiya Takemura (1973-) are both Japanese footballers and are bearers of this name.
