Meaning & History
Hellenized form of an ancient Persian name, which must have consisted of two elements. The first element is still unknown to me, but the second element must probably have been derived from Old Persian #farnah# "glory, splendour, fortune". This was the name of a king of Cappadocia, who lived in the 2nd century BC.
