Likely from a Cornish form of the Welsh name #Cai# or #Cei# (see Kay). This was the name of a semi-legendary British saint, for whom the Cornish parish of Kea is named. According to tradition, he convinced the widowed queen Guinevere to become a nun after Arthur died.
