Meaning & History

From Japanese 逸 (hayaru) meaning "deviate, idleness, leisure, miss the mark, evade, elude, parry, diverge" or 颯 (haya) meaning "sudden, quick, sound of the wind" combined with 塁 (ru) meaning "baseball". Other kanji combinations are possible.

A famous bearer is Hayaru Fukuda, a Japanese director, translator and a professor of the School of Commerce of Meiji University.
