-------------------------------------
Derived from the Japanese phrase Sou ka, meaning "I understand" or "Is that so?".
-------------------------------------
Invented by Michael Dante DiMartino for his young adult television show 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' (2005-2008) for a major male character. He possibly meant it to derive from the Indian name Ashoka, meaning "without sorrow."
