Meaning & History

This name is used as 絹 (ken, kinu) meaning "silk."

It is not known how popular Kinu was in the early and middle part of the Edo period (1603-1868), but it was moderately popular in the latter part of that period and in the Meiji period (1868-1912). The name dropped down in popularity in the Taishō period/era (1912-1926).
