Clay and Clayton are both fairly popular where I live. I don't care for either of them, though. Clayton is too surnamey for me, and Clay doesn't seem like a name that will age well. It also makes me think of potting clay.

I used to really like this name until Clay Aiken.

I really like it. I grew up with 2 boys that were best friends, one was Clayton and the other was Clay. :) Clay's name wasn't Clayton, is was Douglas Clay and he went by his mn. I like the name Clay by itself a tiny bit more than Clayton, but I really like both. When I was young, I thought twins named Clay & Cole would be cute. :-| Good thing I didn't have kids young! lol

I've never been fond of this. Clay is starting to become tolerable to me, but Clayton is nms.~ Arcadia

I agree. I've been on the fence with this one. One day it's on my list...the next day I'm not so sure. So, I'm curious about people's opinions too. Today, I like it.

I don't care for it. I just don't like the sound of it. "This clay is a ton!" And, clay is a word to me, not a name.
