I like Mira, but prefer it as a nickname for Miranda. Nessa is a nickname to me, and I hate it even when short for Vanessa.Other names that mean 'miracle':

Miracle (but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't use this!!)

I like Nessa... Mira, not so much. Nessa is one of those names that I really like, but hardly ever tell people about, for some reason or another...
A is for Amy who fell down the stairs, B is for Basil assaulted by bears, C is for Clara who wasted away, D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh... !!!!!!!!!! - Tobias, Jesse, Wyatt, Shane, Preston, Maverick, Rebel, Gibson, Shiloh, and Timber... & - Andy

I don't care for Mira (it sounds harsh to me), and while Vanessa is an OK name, I prefer it with Nessa as a nickname.

Really? Nikolai was suggested to me by this site. We brought Sasha home just last week. It took a while, but we finally got him! He's from Russia so we chose a Russian middle name because he didn't have a middle name.Kelly

I like both a lot. Milagros ("mee-LAH-gros") is also a personal favorite -- it means "miracles" in Spanish. I have a friend named Milagros and she is drop-dead gorgeous, very pale, milky skin, gold-brown hair, huge almond-shaped eyes, very slim and slender... I always associate the name with her. Sorry, got a little off-topic there. Of Mira and Nessa, I like Mira best. Mireille is another name that resembles "miracle," I think. Mirella is the Italian form of Mireille and another option. Mira could be a nickname for Mirella, or Miranda or Mirabelle. Or simply name her Miracle, which is a name in itself.

I love the name Mira. I also like Mireille, or Mireya. I'm not too fond of Nessa, even if it's a nickname for Vanessa (which I do like).

I of course LOVE Mira : )
Nessa is okay, but a bit nicknamey and nmsI found the word/name Gwyrth which is supposed to mean Miracle in Welsh. I'm not entirely certain of the accuracy of that though. I also have no clue how to pronounce it. I'm going to go and post about it on the Name Facts board.

I really like Mira. I think it sounds graceful and elegant. I am not a big fan of Nessa. It sounds like a nn for Vanessa to me.

I don't like Mira. And I would only like Nessa if it was short for something. It just sounds like a nickname.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I love both of course. You took them off my list. :p
Mirial / Miriel is kind of neat, but it's spelled funny. :S-Seda*

I like Mira as a nn for Miranda or Mirabel/ Mirabella. Nessa is cute as a nn too, for Vanessa.
