who comes to your mind as a first John? John Adams!
is there any other pet from John besides Johnny? There are quite a few, but Jack or Ian are the only ones I would use on a boy named John. I think an earlier poster listed other pet forms that developed from John.
what is a 'personality' of that name in your opinion? Hm...I tend to think of steadiness when I think of John, reliability, though I think it's one of those names that really molds itself to the personality of its bearer. (Wow, that made no sense.)
what midle name goes best with John? I think here you could really get away with anything. Because John is such a common/well-known name, it will go well with a lot of things. I'd go for something English and probably something 'classic' in the same way John is, like William, Christopher, Thomas, Anthony, &c.
Which is better John or James? Jack? Jackob? maybe William? I'm a fan of Jacob. James is also nice.
Could it be a name of a brother to Alan? Sure.
would you chouse it as a name of your son? Probably not, just because going through life named Sarah has left me bitter and I will probably name my hypothetical son something a little less common. On the other hand, I have considered this name, so...who knows?
