[Opinions] Cerys?
I like the way Carys looks, but not the way it sounds. In other words, I'd prefer CARE-iss to CAR-iss. Then, yesterday, a mom at Cassie's playgroup was yelling, "Cerys! Cerys!" prn. like CARE-iss. I thought she was just pronouncing the name wrong, but then I looked it up...and it's not just a made-up name :)So...which do you prefer...Cerys
or
CarysI like Cerys better. Cerys Niamh? Cerys Nimue?TIA__________________________________________________

I prefer Cerys and the combo Cerys Niamh The weird thing is I associate the name with Welsh musician Ceri Rhys Matthews(male), whose name looks way too similar to the other Welsh musician's, Cerys Matthews.

Ditto that they're the same name, but . . .. . . I pronounce Caris KA-ris (short 'a') and Cerys KE-ris (short 'e'). This is the correct pronunciation in Australia; I suppose you could get away with KAIR-is for Cerys in the US.

Is not Cerys just a variant of Carys? I prefer Carys (KAH-ris) to Cerys. Cerys looks like it would be pronounced as Cerise. I also like the Greek name Charis (kah-REES).I guess "CARE-is" is an Americanized pronounciation of both Carys/Cerys and Charis."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

I like Carys better... But it's such a unique name, I think if you want to give a child that name you should give them a more common middle name that they can use if they decide they don't like their first name when they get older.

Funny, I actually thought Carys was pronounced CARE-iss. I love the name, and I prefer the spelling Carys, but I like the way you pronounce it.

I don't like Carys, but Cerys is definitely better.
