[Opinions] Evangeline
I always liked Evangeline. Then it entered the top 1000 which wouldn't bother me, I still use a name in the top 1000 unlike it's rising way too fast or is in the top 150 or so. And that's my problem. Evangeline just rose wayyyyy too quickly. Kind of like Miley which is scary. I fear it will be the next Nevaeh. Not that I compare it to Nevaeh, Evangeline is a beautiful classic but it rose just as fast. I'm worried it will be in the top 100 in one or two years.I never thought the name had the potential to become popular. Sure it's pretty and comes with Eve, Evie and Eva as nicknames but I thought most ordinary people (not so interested in names) would find it too long, complicated, religious sounding or just too weird. I consider Evangeline in a group with names like Tallulah and Theodora, pretty but kind of weird and not what people would often choose. When I say weird I mean that in a good way hehe I love Theodora and Tallulah. Do you think Evangeline will become really popular ? soon ?Do you know anyone named Evangeline ? do they go by their full name or by eve, eva, evie, lina etc ?how do you pronounce it ? i always said ee-VAN-ge-leen but now I much prefer ee-VAN-ge-line.What do you think of it ?Which do you prefer, Evangeline or Emmeline ?it came to my mind when I read Uncle Tom's Cabin today. the little girl is named Evangeline, nn Eva.

I definitely prefer Evangeline to Emmeline... Which will rise faster in popularity, I don't know... Another nickname for it (that would get mixed reactions from person to person) would be Vangie/Vangee.
Definitely "...leen" for pronunciation on this one.

I think it is really ugly soundingAnd i have never understood it's appeal. The VANGE part just sounds yuck.
I can't describe why.

I love Evangeline. I'd probably choose it over Emmeline, but if it was spelled Emmaline, I might have to go with Emmaline.

I don't really like Evangeline because in Uncle Tom's Cabin, Little Eva is happy that she's sick and can't wait to die (on top of that, she's talking about how the afterlife is so good). Such strong language to be using on a child dying.

really ?in the German version she doesn't seem happy to be dying at all. She just accepts it somehow but she isn't happy about it or that she's sick.

-I don't think Evangeline will get as popular as Emily or Emma, but I think it will definitely stay in the top 500 for a while. "Lost" really helped with the sudden boost.-I don't know anyone who goes by this name.-I pronounce it Ee-van-ge-leen.-Personally, I think it's very pretty. A bit long, though.-I prefer Evangeline to Emmaline.

I don't know, I think 'ev' names are going to get more popular, like Evelyn, but I don't know if it will get into the top 100.
I pronounce it 'e-VAN-juh-leen'.
I love Evangeline - I much prefer Evangeline to Emmeline.

LOVE Evangeline and Emmeline both... I would have to say I really like Evangeline better just because Em names are still very popular...although Emmeline is a nice classy variation of Emma or Emily. I've never actually met anyone named Evangeline...the only time I've heard that name is on actress Evangeline Lilly..she is on a very popular show right now (LOST). Seems like that is why the name is becoming more popular. (?)I personally would probably use it as a middle name. Too long I think for my taste.

I have one friend whose daughter is Evangeline 'Eva' and one friend whose daughter is just (full name) Eva. I've never heard is pronounced 'line' at the end and I don't really like it that way, but I really like Evange-leen. I've considered using it, mostly because hubby is Evan, I still may use it for a MN depneding on the FN.I like Emmeline too.

I was just about to post on this nameI adore it! prn leen or line I think it's absolutley beautiful. If it ever got to be too popualr I don't think I would use it, but I'm not so sure that it will- basically for the reasons that you mentioned. And I prefer it to Emmeline :)

I really love Evangeline pn. ee-van-ge-leen. I do not think it will get passed the top 850. Wow, so I lied. I just checked and its 459 here in the US.Anyways...I didn't see that one coming. So maybe it will get popular. But I think the sudden rise is because of Lost star Evangeline Lilly. Once that show is done, I predict it fading in popularity.I dislike Emmeline.
