[Opinions] Laurence
My husband and I are expecting a son in june. My husband loves the name Laurence as it honors his father who recently passes away. I like the name enough but I hate the nickname Larry. Laurence seems very formal but I can't think of a nickname I like. What other nicknames can you think of for Laurence? Thank you!

I'm with you on loving Laurence (esp this spelling!) and hating Larry. Laz is always a fun option, though Loren and Laurie are both appealing.

LorenI work with a guy name Loren. His formal name is Laurence, but everyone calls him Loren. I know it's a bit girlie, but it's an option.

My dad's name is Laurence, nn Larry...His dad was Laurence, nn Laurie! LOVVVVVVVVE Laurie on a boy, soooo handsome! Reminds me of a dashing young English prince!

I love Laurence, it's so handsome. Nn's-Lance or Laurie.

Laurence is nice enough, but I prefer Lawrence. Laurence isn't all that formal...I can imagine a precocious little boy named Laurence, a quiet teenager named Laurence and a successful businessman named Laurence. I like Lauren / Lawren, but I'm afraid that's too feminine with Lauren being such a popular name on girls. As Wordsmith mentioned, Laurie's a good nickname.

Laurie or Ren would be nice nicknames. I love the name Laurence and can't stand Larry, too.

I, too, admire Laurence and abhor Larry!I think Laurie is a delightful alternative.

DittoI hate Larry too, although Laurence is a respectable name. I like Laurie, or Loren is another option.
