[Opinions] Monica?
What are your thoughts about the name Monica? If you were naming a girl right now and had to choose between Monica, Isabella, Olivia and Sophia, what would you choose?

Monica - dated, very dated. I don't like it at allI would choose Sophia or possibly Isabella if I had to choose between those four names.

I like Monica. If matched with the right middle name it could make a nice combo.I would pick Isabella from your list.

I have always thought Monica was a beautiful name. However, Olivia is one of my favorite names. Even with it's popularity, I wouldn't be able to pass it up for Monica if those are my only choices. I would choose Monica over Sophia and Isabella though.

I would personally have a tie between Sophia and Monica.
Both are great names that a little girl could grow with.

I really like itI think it's sweet and feminine, but stronger than a lot of similar names. I also love that it has a plethora of nns like Mo, Monny, Nic etc. I'm a bit biased though because it's the name of a cousin. It's definitely the name I would pick from that list.

Definitely Sophia, it's beautiful. I HATE Monica, it doesn't sound like a nameIsabella is OK, but sounds snobbish sometimes... I like Olivia, but only on other girls, as it is quite popular. Too popular, in fact. Sophia might also be very popular, but to me, it doesn't sound or look like that. It still sounds fresh.

Interesting that you don't think Monica sounds like a name! I believe it was St. Augustine's mother's name.
These were names my friends considered before they chose Monica for their baby recently. They are strongly Catholic and read philosophy, so I guess it fits them!Monica is also a family name for us on my husband's side, so I was considering "Monique" as a possible middle name for a while. But it has gotten a weird vibe from pop culture lately! (My list: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9516801)

I like it a lot, so I would enjoy seeing it used more. Of the names on your list, I would use Monica because I already have a Sophia and a Sophie in my family. Isabella wouldn't really fit. I like Olivia, but I think I'd rather go for something a bit less common.
