Help[Opinions] Clelia
I've been pondering the name Clelia (original form is Cloelia) lately, and quite liking it. Do you think it's ghastly, though? There's something Clara-Cecilia classic about it, but with a touch of difference I am really liking.

I was intrigued with it since reading Stendhal's The Charterhouse of Parma. Pretty!!

While I'm all for bringing old names back to life, I'm afraid Clelia is going to find it difficult to survive. It looks like parents who couldn't decide between Celia and Chloe and just smooshed them together.
I know it isn't, but any poor Clelia running around will not have the benefit of the BtN database wrapped around her neck. The name will not go over well in the real world.
Tucked in the mn position, however, it couldn't do any real harm and could be kind of fun paired with the right fn.
Have you considered Lelia ("LEE-lee-uh")?

I like Lelia as a nickname for Clelia...
...and I have to admit that the story behind the historical Clelia is part of my attraction to the name (she was taken as a slave, and escaped back to Rome - the Romans honourably returned her to her captors, but she was freed along with her fellow slaves because of her bravery).

I don't think it is ghastly at all. In fact it is quite understated, while at the same time being intriguing. A real winner. I think I do prefer the original Cloelia (which is pronounced the same way) slightly more.
