Hello again
I love Scottish names and Biblical names and I'm struggling with some ideas for combinations for girls (already have 3 boys)
I love the name Martha but not sure if I like it as first or middle name - any suggestions.
The name must have 1 first name and 2 second names.

I Instantly think the book ' the secret garden'
If youve ever read you'll know shes a down to earth, common maid ina a posh house. I personally find it old and unnatractive but I sposse I might like it with a funky middle name. Eg:

I love the name Martha. It has an earthy, earnest quality abuot it. It would make a lovely fn. Very refreshing.
I made suggestions below, in your post from yesterday. I'm not sure if you've had a chance to read them. Sorry if some of these are unwanted repetitions, but how about:

P.S. Well blow me down. I just did a Google search using "Egidia" and "Scotland." Apparently, this was not an uncommon name for Scottish royalty in the middle ages. Wonderful!

I pronounce Egidia as "eh-JID-ee-uh." But now that you ask I have to admit that I've never heard it spoken. I always thought it was a Greek name and they tend to put the stress on the "-ia" at the end. ("eh-jih-DEE-uh?" "eh-HEED-ee-uh?")
I hope someone knowledgeable picks this up and answers because now I'm curious.

My Scottish naming book says about the same, it was popular in the later Middle Ages, it metions a couple royals who bore the name, and says that it can also be rendered Giles or Julia! Interesting...Giles is said here to be either male or female, it's from the Greek word aigidion that means 'young goat' and the Greek forms are Egidia (feminine) and Eegidius (masculine). The name Giles has something to do with St. Giles (patron saint of beggars and cripples) who wore a goat skin and was called Giles in France propably because of the Celtic word gillie which means servant and wearing goat skins were a sign of humility and servitude.
I'd say that Egidia is pronounced like eh-GEE-dee-ah and Eegidius like EE-GEE-dee-us, but I'm not sure! :)

Martha is nice but it seems rather old-ladyish, or maybe it's just that the only Martha I know is my elderly next-door-neighbor. I would use it more as a middle name or, the heroine in a book I read once was named Martha but everyone called her Marty! I also love the name Miriam which is also Bibical, WDYTO it?

Miriam is sometimes said to mean "sea of bitterness" but it's also said to mean "rebelliousness", and "wished for child" or "strong, firm".
It could also be an Egyptian name (since Moses his sister Miriam and their people were born in Egypt) perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".
So if you did really like it you could choose which ever meaning you prefered! :)
