I dislike both, I'm afraid. I think Samantha is prettier, but I dislike it and I've never known a Samantha who's liked her name or who has been complimented on it.Berenice and Veronique are variants of Veronica which are nicer than both.

VeronikeThis is one instance where I have a strong preference for a more unusual spelling.

VeronicaI love Veronica (I'd use Veronika in real life) and for some reason I hate Samantha (I think it's the lispy th sounds combined with my dislike of Sam as a nickname).

VeronicaI have tried and tried to like Samantha, and I just don't. It's a nice enough name, but it doesn't give me good feelings. I love Veronica, it's beautiful and elegant, but it's got fun nicknames (Vera, Ronnie, Nica)

Samantha, no contestI prefer the sounds of Samantha over Veronica, hands down. I tend to enjoy "v" sounds in names, but "ver" as the first sound doesn't suit me. I also prefer the look of Samantha. Samantha has sweetness, warmth and friendliness that, for me, Veronica lacks. With Samantha, I get images of sunshine and fields of flowers. Veronica feels more urban, "edgy", aloof.

Definitely Veronica. I don't particularly like Samantha, which seems made up, overused, and too cutesy glam.
Veronica invokes images of Veronica Lake and there was a Veronica Mary at school.
Vroni and Nonnie were her nns

Veronica, hands down (includes cute nicknames).I've never liked "Sam" - not for Samuel, Samantha, nor any similar name. I don't know what it is about "Sam" that irks me so much, but I don't like it.Veronica has always been, to me, a "cool" name. It's kind of long and has lots of history, but also isn't super-elegant or "liquid-sounding." It's spunky, and a girl can have it her whole life (it ages well).I knew two Veronicas in high school, one Hispanic (Argentinian) and the other African-American and Brazilian. The first went by Vero (with a rolled 'r'), and the latter went by Veva (pronounced like "Viva").

Veronica.Though I like Sam quite a bit, I've always disliked Samantha (and Samuel), and I can't really put my finger on what it is about it that puts me off. Veronica is not a real favorite of mine, but it does sound plucky and intelligent. I picture a Veronica as someone confident who is not afraid to speak her mind. Samantha's just blah.

I would go for Veronica because I prefer the name and I like the nickname Nica

Veronica. Samantha is OK, but Veronica is one of my favourite names.

I am just not a Sam fancier. Not at all. Boy, girl, domestic pet - no!Which leaves Veronica. Much nicer than Veronique, but inconveniently long for daily use. Perhaps as a mn? (The only Veronica I've ever known well never used a nn.)

What is interesting about these two names is that they both have male nicknames (Ron/Ronnie and Sam/Sammy). I actually like both names, but I like Veronica more.

Veronica is just flat out more interesting to me. It has more strength and substance. The nn options are more interesting as well.

Definitely Samantha!I have a cousin named Samantha and I think it sounds friendly and smart.
Veronica always makes me think of someone mean (although I've never actually known any Veronicas).

Samantha! Veronica isn't bad, but Samantha has way better nn options. I've always found Veronica kind of bratty anyway. I always imagine a snooty girl with her nose in the air. Samantha sounds fun and full of life.

Tough one. I like both but dislike the possible nicknames for both (Ronnie and Sam). I'll say Veronica. I think that Ronnie would be more avoidable than Sam and I believe that Veronica has seen less use than Samantha.

I like both, but I prefer Veronica. I've always found it alluring and beautiful. It has more of an edge than Samantha. I think that Veronica sounds more adult. Samantha seems like more of a youthful name. That's not to say that I find Samantha too childish, though.

Veronica for sure. I like Samantha also, but I love the sound and strength of Veronica. :)

I'm biased toward Samantha, since its my name.I do like both while neither are on my list. I like Samantha, mostly because its my name and i do like my nickname quite a bit.
Id still choose Veronica. I knew a girl named this and she went by Roni, or Nica. I like that its similar to Victoria but has its own flare.

Veronica sounds more upper-class than Samantha. I'd expect to hear some lords and ladies, old money couples to use Veronica. Samantha is more down to earth, middle/ working class. So to me, it depends on what feel you want. I do know students from work with that name, both in high school.
