I like it, but only when it's pronounced CISS-i-lee. I stopped loving it as much when I found out that Americans say CESS-i-lee, which sounds so ugly to me. I also dislike the meaning. It is very pretty-looking though, let me make that clear, haha.

Aren't you confusing Cicely with Cecily? AFAIK Cecily is pronounced the same in all English-speaking countries.

No, I'm not. I can't speak for all of Canada, but at least in my region, it is pronounced CISS, not CESS. Same goes for Cecilia. We say CISS-seel-lee-ah. I asked family and friends, and we all pronounce Cicely and Cecily the same way.

I like it. I first heard it in high school (it was the name of a student who was slightly older than me). Then I read it in a book which made me like it because of the medieval vibe it has. It's got a little of the feeling of Emily without the popularity and over-warm sound. Combos...

It's got more spirit than the weak, watery Cecilia, but I still don't really like it. It just makes me think of "Sister Susie Sitting on a Thistle."

How do you say this name and not spit all over the place? Okay, I'm just kidding. I don't like it because the "Ceci" part sounds silly...too many "sssss" sounds next to each other. And then "ly" gets added which just makes it even more cutesy and silly sounding. This name would be an nightmare if the kid ends up having a lisp. Sometimes the only way I can think to describe a name is by saying it's "too much", and this is one of those names. There's too much of the same thing going on at once. I'm not a huge fan of the name Cecilia, but I actually think it works better because the "lia" complements the "Ceci". The "ly" in Cecily overwhelms the "Ceci".

I can't help but see "celery" when I see Cecily. It really puts me off!
