LinneaI prefer the soft 'l' sound to the hard 't' sound. There's just something elegant about Linnea.

Linnea beats Talia by a mile. Linnea has a much more pleasing sound.

Linnea. I like the nature connection and just the way it sounds better. Both may have pronunciation issues. I know I've heard "lin-NAY-ah," "LIN-ee-ah," and "lin-AY" for Linnea, and "TAL-ee-ah" and "THAL-ee-ah" for Talia/Thalia.

Talia. Though I do prefer Thalia. It feels more classic and I really like the Muse association. I also taught a Linnea a couple years ago, and I was surprised (since I thought I liked the name) that I found that the sound became irksome over time. To me it began to sound very sharp. I think Talia/Thalia will stand up better in the long run.

Yes, Linnea is pretty on paper, but I can't imagine saying, calling it out, a hundred times a day ( for the first five years). Linn or Lynn is a nice nickname, but I agree, the whole name feels a bit sharp to me, too. But very pretty. I think Talia is softer.

Talia, just sounds nicer and more appealing.

Linnea, mostly just because. On another day, I could go for Talia, but I'm not crazy about your preferred pronunciation. I pronounce it TAHL-yah.

oh, well, I'm crap at writing pronunciations! I don't know if I would pronounce it two syllables or three.

Yeah, just looked at my pronunciation and it is all wrong. Emphasis would be on first syllable, like TAHL-ya. I'm crap at that. And fractions!

LinneaJust because I prefer the sound. I also like the connection to the flower.

Wait did you mean Tahlia?Because I just noticed actually that Thalia and Tahlia / Talia are completely different names

TaliaWell, I liked the look of Talia, but I assumed Thalia was pronounced the same. I thought Talia was cleaner, but realise one is Hebrew & the other Greek. Pronounced (forgive if I get the emphasis wrong) tah-LEE-ah -- same sound as in Natalia

I know a Talia. It's pronounced TAL-yuh.

I mean I would assume it was pronounced sort of like Dhalia. I just thought it might be worth mentioning since the comments on Thalia say it's pronounced "tha-LYE-uh"

I do not know anyone named Talia, but I know two Thalia's and a Tahlia, and they all pronounce it the way you've written there.

LinneaBy far. Linnea is gorgeous I don't know what it is about T(h)alia, honestly, I've just never liked it. I think maybe because it reminds me of Tanya, which has always sounded unpleasant and sort of down-market, to me

interesting, because that is kind of what I anticipated most posters would say. I was really surprised by the Talia feedback. Not unpleasantly surprised, just surprised!

I adore Linnéa! It's so sweet and endearing. Talia seems bland to me, which is quite odd as I've never actually met anyone with the name. I guess I'm just a bit of a name snob and prefer names with "substance" (whatever that is), and I personally don't feel like Talia / Thalia has much of it.

LOTS of Talia love.Wow. I am surprised by all the Talia love. I am surprised b/c I thought Linnea was a huge favourite w/ name nerds (not to insult), but on NB, for example, it seems darling of the boards. Talia.. well, I do like it. Very pretty. I especially think it is cute as a nn for Natalia, but I like it as a stand alone, too.My husband *really* likes Linnea. It is very pretty written. Very. However, spoken, it feels a bit odd for me.Hmmm. Talia. Husband loves this one, too. Talia. Pretty. Thank you for your feedback. It is helping me organize my thoughts.

Talia, I've never cared much for Linnea.

TAHL-ee-ah is beautiful. I love it even more as a nickname for Natalia. But either way, so nice.ta-LEE-ah makes my skin crawl with awkwardness. I really hate the pronunciation.Linnea is fine. I don't love it, but it's pretty nice. So my vote depends very much on the pronunciation of Talia.
