[Opinions] Aaliyah
A woman I know is having a daughter and is planning on naming it Aaliyah which I think is a lovely name. The woman is part Egyptian
Thoughts on the name, any similar names.
Any middle name suggestions.

One of my favorite names. I knew twins named Aleah (same as Aaliyah, just alternate spelling)and Alaya.

Aaliyah is one of those names that is very pretty in sound, but so culturally specific in spelling. I realize it is far more mainstream than it looks, so it can really be used in many cultures... but the double a really shouts "middle east' to me. That said, it does work today and it both recognizable and fairly easy to pronounce from the spelling. Aaliyah Renee

I like Aaliyah. It is completely nmsaa but I like it. It's pretty and I enjoy the meaning. I probably prefer the spelling Alia but it's all a bit whatever. If she's English speaking, I prefer something kind of simple and not too out there. There are a lot of letters for not a lot of sound in Aaliyah.Aaliyah Jane
