Help[Opinions] Elinor, Genevieve and Grace
These are all names are on our list. I'm not sure how to feel - they seem so very 'in' and 'trendy' compared to Miriam.
Thoughts? Grace is topping the list, as it has a lot of meaning for both me and my husband.
The moral of Pete's story is: No matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song... because it's all good.

I like Grace best of those three. And I don't think it's too popular to consider. BUt I don't think any of those three are too popular to consider.

Miriam might not be as 'in' as your other names, but that doesn't mean that they don't go together for siblings. All four of these names have a history of being names. That's enough for me to consider them for siblings.

I don't dislike Elinor, but I feel like it's lackluster in comparison to Genevieve (the English pronunciation has always reminded me of "joie de vivre", so it sounds lively and bright to me)...and normally I'd say the same thing about Grace, but I think the combo you came up with is very balanced. I might actually prefer Grace Judith Cecilia over Genevieve Cecilia...
I also like the idea of Cecilia as a FN, maybe with nn Cecile?

The nickname thing is a bit of an issue. My in-laws do not use nicknames and in fact are pretty against them. Rose is occasionally Rosie, Caleb is occasionally Dub...but that's it. I'm pretty much the only one who uses nicknames. I'd have to put up with a lot of eyerolling and snide comments if I decided to use a nickname.

They'll get used to it. The kid is your kid too. My family is a HUGE nickname family, which is why I consider nicknames for every name I ever think about because I'd like to preempt the choosing of one. Additionally, I am a product of my family and I shorten names myself! That being said, one of my Aunts who married into the family hates nicknames- her kids are always Benjamin, Nathanael and Josiah. We don't roll our eyes. Initially we were like "Benjamin is a long name to use all the time!" And we all do call him Ben on occasion but we actually do use their full names way more often because that's how their mother always referred to them. She doesn't get annoyed when we do shorten their names either though, she just never does it. She also calls all of us by our full names all the time, and none of us go by our full names ever in family situations.

I can see Miriam and Elinor as siblings, and maybe Miriam and Grace although Grace stands out as a more popular and mainstream choice. I can't picture Miriam and Genevieve at all, Genevieve is way too frilly.

These are all lovely! I wouldn't consider them in or trendy at all, except for Grace.
I like Genevieve the best, with Elinor a very close second. Grace is a nice name, but for some reason it has a harsh sound to me. I don't know why, because I've known lots of nice Graces. I really like Gracie though.

Genevieve and Grace are both beautiful names, and I love them with a sister named Miriam. Grace Judith Cecilia is a great combo.
I love Eleanor but don't like Elinor at all. It looks odd and dumbed-down to me, like Eleanor was too hard for the user to spell (not that I think that's why you like it, that's just the vibe it gives off IMO).

I love the spelling of Elinor because it has a medieval vibe to me. It has a cleaner, prettier look as well.
I'm glad you like Grace Judith Cecilia. It would be solve the problem of having my daughter share a first name with an unlikable family member

Grace Judith Cecilia is a lovely combination of light (Grace) and grounded (Judith). Cecilia's a bit of both so it works perfectly. :D

I do worry about the spelling - she'd have to spend her life correcting people. I'm not sure why but I just don't like the spelling Eleanor.

We're trying to figure it out, as Grace Cecilia sounds like Gray Cecilia. I think I might do a double middle name again - Grace Judith Cecilia. That feels 'right'
I've actually started to think of using Cecilia as a first name. The more I learn about my husband's aunt/godmother the more I like the name. Cecilia Grace is really pretty to me. I'd just need to find a nickname I like.
