What do you think of Viorica? I have some Romanian in my blood from my great grandma and her family, so I like that it is a Romanian name. I also like the floral association. Do you think it's a bit of a mouthful for a first name? What would be a good nickname for Viorica?

I think it's great. It seems a fresher alternative to Veronica. No, it's an alternative to Veronica that avoids the possible nickname Ronnie.

There was a fanfic I read once where the main OC was named Viorica. The fanfic was taken down, but I keep thinking of it every time I hear this name.

I can only hear Victoria and think it may get confused for that... but I think it is sweet. Via and Rica would be very cute.

Vyo-ree-ka? Vee-yo-ree-ka? I like it either way. Sounds a bit like Eureka! but that's not bad. I like the floral association too, it's pretty whimsical sounding. And I love the letter V.

(If you live in a country that is not in Eastern Europe...) People might mix it up with Victoria and people might need a little instruction on how to say it/spell it (and some people will just not get it no matter how many times you instruct them)... but such are the pains of a non-Western/moderately obscure name. I think it is worth it if you really like it.

Different nns... Vera, Vio, Vi, Ri, Riri, Rica, Ria.

The pronunciation I heard from online was something like Vyor-eeka. I live in the US so there would be instructing, especially if we pronounced it like that.

I think because I'm so used to seeing the letters in Violet(ta) and Victoria that when I was see Viorica, my mind wants to insert a T.

I'd have to get used to it, but I don't dislike it.
