[Opinions] Marian vs. Marion
Which one do you prefer?I prefer Marian. I think it's prettier. **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

Marian. Marion looks more masculine to me.

I think Marian is prettier and gives me more of a medieval vibe. Marion is more solidly unisex.

I like Marian a tad better. It seems more feminine. I'd maybe use Marion though as an honoring name for my great-grandmother. I like Marion best for a boy, while acknowledging it isn't practical for modern use.

I prefer Marion. It reminds me of Marion Cotillard and just seems so artsy and chic. Marian feels like it is missing something, possibly letters. Marianne would feel more natural for me, but it would also feel boring compared to Marion.

Marian does look prettier, but I know a couple of male Marians (both Romanian)I prefer Marianne for a girl.

I agree. Marian is prettier. Plus it makes me think of Maid Marian.

They're both lovely, but I think I prefer Marion (and Marianne to Marian).

Do they sound the same when you say them? I hear MArion with the A as in map, and MAREion like a female horse, only it's an adjective referring to the virgin Mary. Marian cult, or whatever. Either way, I'd happily stick to Marianne. If I couldn't, then Marion for sure.

I grew up with DC's infamous mayor, Marion Barry.
Marian is tied to Marian Mysteries. Both are unusable to me, if forced I'd go with Marian.

I think Marian seems more dainty, maybe.
I prefer Marion for no discernible reason, but I'm going to say it's because it looks like 'clarion'.

I like both but prefer Marion. I say them the same, but I think of Marion as French - like Alison. The French -on ending seems soft to me.
Marian seems more Latiny-serious and unisex to me, like Vivian. I like Marianne more than Marian.
