It could grow on me, but I don't particularly love it. It nearly rhymes with Charity, which I greatly dislike. And also, when I see Verity, it makes me think of the Biblical phrase '...And verily I say unto you...' Not sure why, but that's what always pops into my head. :b

Noah, 4 - "Dad, I love a fun guy!"
Dan - "Oh really? Pumpkin, I'm so glad you think i'm a fun guy!"

I think it's a lot more interesting and just as pretty as many of the other virtue names.I used to know a Verity who was a smug, arrogant person, so she kind of ruined the name for me. But I like it for other people and would compliment it on their child.

As far as word names go...it's one of my favorites. Mercy, Verity, and Clarity probably make my top three. I'm kind of surprised that Clarity hasn't popped up more. People like word names, people like Clare/Claire; it would only make sense, you know?

I'm just surprised thatit hasn't caught on. It seems ripe for it, you know? Your friend has good taste, I think. :-) She was ahead of the times, name-wise.

She wasHer kids' names are Clarity Leigh (Leigh/Lee is a traditional family name for first kid, male Lee or female Leigh), Chloe Elizabeth (my friend's name is Elizabeth, nn Leighza, which her mom made up), Cassidy Alice Rose (should have been Claudia, continuing the CL- thing, but she found out Claudia means lame and wouldn't consider it after that; and Alice Rose was the midwife who delivered Cassidy), and most interestingly, Jamesjason Blue Rider, whom they call Rider (she had a younger brother Jason who died in a car accident, not sure why it had to be Jamesjason since that wasn't Jason's name). She has different tastes, for sure.~Lillian~

Jamesjason? That's a mouthful. :-) Kind of amusing how big of a difference there is between the girls' names and the boy's. I like Cassidy Alice Rose a lot; Cassidy is kind of a guilty pleasure name for me, and Alice Rose is almost too sweet.

At first I did not like it. But after thinking about it, I think it sounds pretty cool. Where's the Kaboom? There's suppose to be an Earth shattering kaboom!" -Marvin the Martian.

Verity has grown on me alot since my niece with that name was born last year. At first, I went ugh, what an awful name. But then, I really don't like Veronica, Virginia etc. (Just Victoria :)) Now, however, I quite like it.They have 5 daughters, the sibset is Emily, Beatrice, Felicity, Annabelle and Verity, in case you were interested :)

It's fine for another person's child, but there's something about the sound that grates me. I like Vera and Veronica, and I like other names that mean the same, like Alethea and Truth, but Verity gives me the willies.Array

Verity is the only virtue name I can stand, probably because I have a thing for V names. I really like Verity and I agree, it does sound soft & feminine.
