[Opinions] Adah
1. What do you think of the name Adah?
2. How do you personally pronounce it?
3. Do you think people will pronounce it the same as Ada (Ay-dah)?
4. Which do you prefer, Adah or Ada?Thanks!Sarah -

That’s interesting, in Hebrew Adah is pronounced AH-dah. I think most people would pronounce it like Ada though, especially here in Australia.

I pronounce it like Ada: emphasis on the first syllable, which rhymes with hay. AYda. I don't like either of them, and although I know the -h is correct for a Hebrew name, because Ada is so well known, it looks as if the second syllable is being foregrounded for some reason so I expect it to sound different somehow, probably emphasised to sound like aDAH. I've never heard it used, and I really hope I'm wrong.

Adah in Hebrew is pronounced AH-dah. I think most people would say it like they would Ada though, so AY-dah.

1. It looks very Hebrew. Or like a Biblical town2. Aww-duh. 3. I thought Ada was said with a short A. I don't think so4. I prefer Adah now that I know how Ada is said

I think Ada can be pronounced with a short A (like the a in cat) if it's short for something like Adelaide or Adele, but as a full name by itself it's like AY-da. And maybe it becomes AY-da as a nickname sometimes too, not sure.
