[Opinions] Finn or Finlay? (more)
Would you use Finlay nn Finn (but sometimes called by his full name too) or just Finn?I love them both but sometimes I wonder if Finlay isn't more substantial (even though I know Finn is a full name). The meaning is also more interesting. Finn just means "fair, white" and Finlay means "white, fair warrior" so I feel it is stronger (I think of a warrior more as someone fighting to achieve his dreams, not so much as someone on the battlefield). Which one do you think is better?Finley is not an option (doesn't look authentic to me) and I don't like any other forms enough to use (Finnegan, Finbar).Sometimes I think about Fionn but overall I like Finn and Finlay more. Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I prefer Finley, but since that’s not an option, then I’d go with Finlay nn Finn sometimes. Like you said, Finlay just seems more substantial.

I prefer just Finn. It feels very light hearted, playful and not to mention handsome and Finlay makes me think of a boat or sporting wear company. Not bad necessarily of course but that's my imagine that comes to mind. I agree with your sentiments on Finnigan as it seems a little clunky though it's still a shade of a GP for me lol!

I’d just use Finn. Where I am Finlay/Finley is really trendy and Finn seems more substantial. Though I do like your point about the meaning of Finlay being better. I just can’t get past how Finlay would definitely get mispronounced.
