I love this name, but I would only use as a middle name due to popularity. I’m not even ashamed to admit I love it even more because of Captain Olivia Benson from Law and Order SVU. I love her character and I wonder if the spike in popularity can be in part due to the show.

When I was about 11 I had a good friend named Olivia. I suppose because of that, Olivia always has seemed to be an ordinary, everyday name to me. Now it's beyond ordinary. It's out of control. Which is not to say I dislike Olivia, but it's seriously overdone. As an aside, my friend Olivia had a big brother named Oliver.

I love it. As Anneza said, it's beautiful and elegant. It deserves to be popular.

Very beautiful, elegant and pleasant. The only thing that puts me off is the dismal prospect of people shortening it to Olly. Which sort-of happened to a relative of mine, born before the First World War and named Olivia. As soon as she was old enough, she insisted on being called Olive, and yes, that was nicknamed into Olly too, though not all the time. I'd happily consider Olivia as a mn.

I used to like it but now I can't even see what I used to like about it. It's so boring.I think I prefer Livia or just Liv. Or Lydia. Or Olive.Olivia is just so bland. It feels even more tired than Hannah or Sarah. At least these two are getting a bit of a rest whereas Olivia is still everywhere.

When I was a kid I had a close friend named Olivia. She was a few years younger, which looking back I guess is a little odd (but then I was always deemed to be a little "emotionally behind" my peers and was bullied a lot). I think her parents were just ahead of the curve in terms of name popularity; but our friendship gave me a very positive image of the name. And by itself I think Olivia is beautiful. But turn in any direction in a pre-school in my area and you're bound to step on a little Olivia. And going all the way up to the current high school seniors, there are probably at least three in every class (definitely the case for my state). This has made using Olivia impossible for me in the future.

Olives are delicious! One of my most favorite foods ever. There's a store called All About Olives in Florence, OR that really is all about olives and it is awesome, and I need to go back lol
