For myself, I'd choose Rachel because it's my middle name. For a daughter I'd pick Caitlin Rachel or Caitlin Emma - I really like Caitlin.Emma seems the least dated.Sarah or Rachel is the most.I don't really like Megan for some reason.*

Ironically enough I don’t even find Emma all that 90’s. If anything I think it’s more 2000’s. Caitlin too pretty much. I would say Emma. The name is boring, plain, and that’s why I like it. It’s unobjectionable, simple, cute, and short. It has a decent history too. Megan I never cared for, Sarah as well as I prefer Sarai or if we’re stretching it just Sara, Rachel is okay I guess, Caitlyn is also fine but I don’t care for that spelling. I prefer Kaitlyn or Katelyn.Least would be Emma I guess. Most would be Megan is my eyes. Almost annoyingly 80s like Ashley and Jessica.I really do not care for Megan. Meghan would be a cooler spelling, but the name itself is honestly meh.

I would choose Emma, whether for me or for a daughter. My second choice would be Sarah.I think Megan is the most dated. Emma is very popular in my country so it just feels dated to this new generation. Sarah is classic.I dislike Megan the most. I also don't care for Caitlin.

I grew up in the 90s so this is a blast from the past.
If you had to choose one of these 90s names for yourself, which one and why?
Emma would be my choice now. As a kid I was in love with the names Emma and Caitlin. Caitlin was my almost middle name.

If you had to name a daughter would you choose a different name?
My current daughters are Katherine and Elizabeth so if I were to name another daughter, it would be either Sarah, Emma, or Megan. Which is the least dated?
Sarah and Emma scream the most classic to me so I don't think they'd loose charm.Which is the most dated?
Caitlin unfortunately became so popular it's forever linked with the 90s.Which one do you dislike the most?
Rachel because it's got a lot of personal negative associations for me but it's also the sound of the name is harsh to me.

Sarah. I really like Caitlin, but it's not me. If you had to name a daughter would you choose a different name?
Well, if I'm Sarah, she wouldn't be. Probably Caitlin.Which is the least dated? Which is the most dated?
Caitlin feels the most dated to me, and Sarah or Emma the least.Which one do you dislike the most?
Rachel. I don't like the sound that much.

Rachel for myself and a daughter, because it's simply the best. I think Caitlin might suit me too though.Least dated: Emma
Most dated: Caitlin

I would choose Rachel as my favorite and Caitlin as my least favorite. Emma is the least dated (it’s still really popular) and I think Megan is the most dated.

Rachel is my favorite, with Sarah being a close second, & Megan third.I don’t like Emma or Caitlin.

I'd choose Caitlin on both counts, or Rachel for me and Kaitlyn for a daughter.
Emma isn't a nineties name to me like some of the others, it's still pretty wildly popular. It's my least favorite.
Megan is probably the most dated.

Emma, lovely classic and least datedMost dated MeganI like them all

I think Sarah is my favorite of these. I've known a *lot* of Sarahs, but I still like it most out of these options. I think Megan might be the most dated, or at least the one I would be most surprised to see on a baby born today.

For a daughter I'd pick Rachel, and then Emma I guess. My name is Emma. Rachel is a false name I often use for myself, because it's a common name for women my age, and I think it's quite, like, strong. Maybe because of the association with the animorphs character lol. Most dated Megan, least dated Sarah.I dislike Megan the most, I just strongly dislike the sound, which I would describe as cramped and ugly.I don't really like Caitlin. Sarah is OK. Emma is a little bit better than Sarah maybe. Rachel is nice.

Emma. I actually like it a lot, and it seems very classic to me. In order Emma, Sarah, Rachel, Megan, Caitlin.

AlsoIs Emma really 90s? It wasn't very popular then (at least in the US).

It was in the top 20 by the end of the decade. Really popular in the UK through the whole of the 90s. It could also be the association with Friends? Although that was a bit later.

I agree, it's much more 2000s to me.

Most of my friends are from the UK. In the UK it was popular in the 70s, super popular in 80s and sort of on its last leg in the 90s (I think it is still in the mid-top-100 but I guess it's because of immigrants because it's such an international name and in Germany, France, Italy it was fashionable for longer). Gemma had a similar pattern. Emily is the younger name there, but also slowly falling out of fashion. When I hear Emma I think Emma Watson and Emma from the Spice Girls as well as Emma on Friends. Spice Girl Emma is now 44, Emma Watson is 31 and Friends Emma would be 21, I guess?I find it odd that it is still so popular as it feels really tired to me. I know lots of 25+ women named Emma in the UK and even in Germany where it became popular later I know lots of 20+ Emmas so I find it dated.

Yeah, it definitely blossomed an entire decade earlier in the UK than it did in the US. I was born in 1990, and people didn't know what to make of my name (Emma). Everyone just thought it was Emily. It wasn't until 1998 or so that I started hearing "What a lovely old-fashioned name" and teachers etc. naming their babies Emma.

Friends-Emma would be 19, “born” in 2002 :) I don’t think Emma is very tired, but maybe that’s because I associate it with Austen more than anything. Emily, though? Bury it in the ground.

Ahh, thanks, for some reason I thought it was 2000 :PFor me it is the other way around. Emily still sounds fine to me.

I’ve just known a lot of Emilys, maybe 10 or 12, and only one or two Emmas. Regional differences, I’m sure!

From an outside perspective I like the name Sarah best and would easily pick it from this list for a daughter. It's my favorite "common" female name. I would for sure use it as a nickname for Seraphina as well in the form of Sara. As for myself I most aline with the type of "Rachel" personality I imagine with the name and would probably pick it if I had to pick one of these. I was REALLY into Rachel for a while as a name idea for a daughter but have since come off it a bit because of a difficult person I've known with it in the meantime. I kind of dislike Megan the most it just feels so overly modern and empty, and I don't inherently dislike modern names on principle it just feels like 90s fluff to me and uninteresting and overly boring. I knew so many growing up it's just kind of lost any appeal it once had to me. Caitlin I have the same issue with though not to quite the same extent. I see Emma more as a name a product of the generation after me and not my own as I knew none until I was a teenager and they were a few that started cropping up in the form of younger children. I do like it even though it feels more like a fade in my ears than a name in and out of fashion like the other classics. I definitely attribute Friends aiding in it's popularity rise and like to imagine the alternate timeline where the creators picked Delilah instead and seeing a ton of teenage Delilahs running around in the present. It says a lot by what parents pick as names for their children but it says a ton by what creators pick for their characters.

They’re all quite boring tbh but I’d go for Sarah because in spite of being overused it feels more like a classic.Caitlin is possibly the most dated, followed by Megan, then Emma, then Rachel then Sarah.

1. Emma. It's simple and feminine (besides it's used in my country).2. Yes. In terms of 90's names I'd choose Jessica.3. Emma. It's still very popular.4. Rachel. It's too 80's as well.5. Megan. Sounds bland.

If you had to choose one of these 90s names for yourself, which one and why?
Rachel. I'm actually really fond of it. I'd choose to be a Rachel Emma.
If you had to name a daughter would you choose a different name?
I would choose Rachel Emma again, if I could only choose from these. Maybe something like... Rachel Penelope Kathleen if I was using it irl.
Which is the least dated?
Emma, I think it's more classic than the rest of them.
Which is the most dated?
Probably Rachel.
Which one do you dislike the most?
I hate Sarah. It sounds how a sandstorm would taste.

For myself, I'd choose Sarah. I think of all the names, it's the one I dislike the least for myself. It would suit me ok, since I think of all Sarahs as having thin yellow hair (which I also have). And I have a soft spot for the odd little nickname "Sar" (rhyming with "care"). For a daughter, I'd choose Emma. I think Emma is the least dated. Megan is the most dated.I dislike Caitlin the most, I think.

Rachel was never popular where I live, unlike the others, though I think Amy was more used here than Emma.I'd choose Megan for myself, because I would have had the name before it became popular and, often, mispronounced.I dislike Sarah and Caitlin the most; Emma is too bland and vague to dislike, but I'd certainly avoid it. Sarah is a family name, so if I had to use one of these names for a daughter I'd take Sally instead of Sarah.
