I love Mariah (ma-RYE-ah). I first heard it in a folksong, "They Call The Wind Mariah".

Irrationally, I prefer Maria-with-an-ee to Mariah-with-an-ie, but Sophia-with-an-ie to Sofia-with-an-ee. I find Maria (with an ee)
too religious and also too common, so I used Mary instead to honour a Maria (DH's mother). I would never use Mariah: it combines the very old and the very one-owner trendy in a way that sprains my brain.

I like the sound. There’s also Moriah as an alternative.

I dislike the sound. For those bored with Mary/Marie/Maria, I'd suggest Maryam instead.

I’ve always thought it was quite pretty. It would actually sound quite refreshing to hear these days.

It's like a more glamorous, dazzled up version of Maria. So refreshing to hear nowadays with there being sooo many Marias.
