[Opinions] Isla
Isla has been growing on me lately. Wdyt of it, and do you have any combos? Also, do you think people would mispronounce/misspell it a lot? Thanks-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though this is not my real name, I have deep and abiding love for it. :) But I'm not positive that I'll ever actually use it. I have a long list of criteria for the names of my future children. I love a lot of names, but I only have a few die-hard favorites that I'd be likely to actually bestow on a child, and Isla is one I go back and forth on. I grew up with a very popular name, but that also meant 1) not having to spell it for people, and 2) not having to pronounce it for people, even though it also meant I was Heather S. for years and I still am now (at work, there are three Heathers :-/). I worry about people mispronouncing and misspelling Isla. Plus, I live in FL, so there's a bigger Spanish speaking community than elsewhere, and the world "isla" is pronounced EEZ-lah in Spanish. Not that that's a horribly sounding thing, but it's not Isla = EYE-lah. :b I don't really want my child to be annoyed at people constantly getting her name wrong. That and I'm actually a chicken and don't want to 'rock the boat' too much for the most part. I've mentioned to a few people in my life that I like it, and 90% of the time I've gotten odd looks. :-/ With all that being said, if you can deal with the possibility of mispronunciation and misspelling--and once they get to know her, it won't really be an issue, but it still may be a daily thing, unfortunately--and you love the name, I say it's do-able. I may actually "do" it myself someday. :b After all that rambling, I actually do have some of my favorite combos for you: (I think I'm repeating OP's)
Isla Camille
Isla Maeve
Isla Beatrice
Isla Jessamine
Isla Pearl
Isla Rosalie (too L heavy?)

I never paid it much attention until I 'met' our poster, Isla. I think it's really pretty, though, and I would definitely consider using it. I don't think it will get misspelled or misprn any worse than a host of other names.I'm drawing a blank for combos right now, but I'll edit some in if I think of any.

It's lovely - one of my favourites, actually. Simple, yet very beautiful.
