It's a favorite, but I"m fairly certain that the meaning is incorrectI asked about it a long time ago on the Facts board. It is very pretty, but it might come acros as a made-up, trendy name wich is too bad. I like it because of a character in a series of books set in Victorian Times.

The meaning is incorrect...Many sources list the name meaning as "lark" because there is a type of lark with that name. The real Greek meaning of Kalandra / Kalandros is "beautiful man" from kallos meaning beautiful/good and andros meaning man (mankind is implied in feminine names like Kalandra, Kassandra, etc.).¡VIVA ESPAÑA!

I like the fact that Calandra is distinctive. I think Callie is cute. I want to like Calandra. Alas, I think "calamity" every time I hear Calandra. It could grow on me, though (Calandra, not calamity). ;-)

Sounds like a Greek goddess or name from a sci-fi/fantasy book, but it's not bad at all.

Calandra is beautiful!
And, I really love the nn Callie!
I can't say that I've ever heard it before, though.
Was it on a young girl or an older woman?pregnancy week by week

it was on an older woman she was in her mid 50's early 60's I'd say. You usually don't find names that beautiful on older women well, in my taste most women around here are like (Judy, Linda, Ellen, Susan, Norma...) I find a name like Calandra out of this world it's beautiful. Top Names:Isabella, Anastasia, Elizabeth, Scarlett, Arabella, Xenia, Alessandra, Annabelle, Gabriella, Aurora, Arielle, Serena, Sophia, Esmeralda, Alexandra, Ivanka, Rose.
